OVERVIEW

The Knudson Varipan is an on-site continuous metal roll forming machine. It produces 2 panel profiles, a 1" nail strip snap lock panel and a 1.5" standing seam panel. Panel widths vary from 12" - 20". Panels may be formed with between 1-3 stiffening beads and between 1-3 striations depending on panel width.

On-site roll forming provides for the elimination of end laps with continuous panel forming capabilities.

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

  1. General: Snap-lock panels employ a hidden fastening system for securement to a solid substrate. Panels are attached with screws fastened through slots cut in the male leg [flange] and then the subsequent panels female leg locks over the entire length of the panel eliminating the need for clips.
  2. Range of application: on wood or metal sloped roofs; in commercial, institutional, industrial and residential construction; for re-roofing or new construction.
  3. Fasteners (Screws):
    1. For panel to steel attachment to be No. 10-16 by 22 mm (1") long self- drilling, self-tapping, pancake head plated steel screws. One fastener every 24" on centre inserted into panel guide holes.
    2. For panel to wood attachment to be No. 10-16 by 22 mm (1") long self-tapping, pancake head plated steel screws. One fastener every 24" on centre inserted into panel guide holes.
  4. Deck Requirements: in keeping with the RoofStar Guarantee Standards for ASM Systems.

SITE CONDITIONS

  1. Minimum roof slope is 1:6 (2" in 12"). Severe conditions (heavy snow or ice) minimum slope is 1:1.5 (8" in 12").

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

  1. Wind Uplift Standards: Engineered designs to resist wind uplift may refer to the British Columbia Building Code, Div. B, Appendix C, Table C-2 which lists various types of loads, including wind loads, for specific reference locations throughout the province. See also Guides and Notes (Wind Resistance) for a simplified calculation procedure. Regardless of the resources indicated here, the Design Authority is responsible to perform accurate wind load calculations and specify securement requirements.
  2. Materials:RoofStar (RGC) accepted metal panel systems shall be formed of steel conforming to the standards published in the RoofStar Guarantee Standards for ASM Systems.
