The table on this page provides basic material data and links to more information about the materials, including manufacturers' published Technical Data sheets, but this information not intended for use as a comparison of material performance or quality. It is the sole responsiblity of the design authority to assess the performance capability and material suitability for specific design requirements. Only primary shingle products; it does not include items such as starter strips, ridge caps or hip caps. Starter Strips, like ridge and hip capping, must be acceptable to, and manufactured by, the field asphalt shingle manufacturer. The starter strip or ridge/hip cap must be of the same material as the shingle and must be applied according to the manufacturer's printed instructions, to provide a minimum double coverage. Capping must be installed in such a manner that nails are not exposed. Continuous proprietary ridge venting systems are also acceptable and are recommended for all areas with vaulted ceilings. All asphalt shingle manufacturers listed in this manual provide limited material warranties for their products. Material warranties for asphalt shingles will vary in term or length of coverage (years) with various conditions depending on the manufacturer and specific brand of product. Many asphalt shingle products include the term or length of coverage, in years, as part of the product brand names. The asphalt shingle materials listed in this manual are those, which have been accepted by the RoofStar Guarantee Program (RCABC Guarantee Corp., or RGC) upon application by the manufacturer, in compliance with RGC policy A-041 and are materials for which RoofStar Guarantee Certificates are available. The acceptance of these materials in no way reflects on the quality or performance of other materials not listed. The acceptance of these materials by the RoofStar Guarantee Program is only for coverage under the RoofStar Five (5) Year or RoofStar Ten (10) Year Guarantee Programs. Such acceptance by the 'RoofStar Guarantee Program' in no way reflects on the long term in service performance or expected service life of these products in comparison to the term or length of warranty coverage provided by asphalt shingle manufacturers. |
