System Summary
LiveRoof calls their Maxx System a niche product for unique needs, such as for vegetable gardening on decks and balconies where access may require carrying the modules up a flight of stairs. There are also a few municipalities that require an 8 inch soil depth for water retention code.
The Maxx System can be used just like the Deep System to create a biodiverse prairie, sun or shade gardens, and vegetable gardens. Naturally the weight is significant at 60-65 pounds per sf., but usually the installations are small and there is often ample structural capacity on the type of roofs where it is used.
LiveRoof's Maxx System is primarily used for small scale vegetable gardens or for patches of tall accent plants, such as grasses, in conjunction with the Standard System. The type of plants used in the Maxx System include popular edible plants such as herbs, peppers, tomatoes, kale, beans, carrots, cabbage, and even sweet corn. The Maxx System will also support a full array of low to tall growing Sedums, and hundreds of different fibrous rooted herbaceous perennials (including native forbes, sedges, and grasses).

LiveRoof Lite (Protected Membrane Assembly) Properties (TDS)

Guarantor's Notes
Systems labeled "Inverted" are designed for a protected membrane roof assembly, also known as an inverted roof assembly.
While Semi-intensive and Intensive vegetated roof systems are limited to only protected membrane roofs (See the Sentence 1.1.3.2.(5) in the "RGC Standard for Vegetated Roofs"), some vegetated roof system manufacturers offer their systems for conventionally insulated roofs. To request a written Variance to the published limitation, follow the requirements in Article 1.1.3.6..
*Conditions and Limitations
Note that system thickness is dependent upon the selection of components, which is determined (in part) by design parameters, including hydrological requirements. Consult with the vegetated roof system manufacturer for options and saturated system weight.
Also note that vegetation coverage under the RoofStar Vegetated Roof Guarantee applies only to extensive systems planted with mats or trays - see Part 3 of Division A for more about coverage.
