- System Summary
- Carlisle Intensive Roof Garden System, often referred to as a "deep" green roof, is a built-in-place system with a growth media depth starting at 20.3 cm (8 in) and beyond. These systems are typically installed over concrete roof decks due to their substantial weight. Intensive green roofs offer nearly limitless possibilities for plant selection and can be engineered to retain significant amounts of stormwater, tailored to the project's needs. Given the greater depth and diverse vegetation options, these systems require a heat-welded root barrier to protect the roof membrane, are the heaviest green roof type, and demand rigorous maintenance, often including a permanently installed irrigation system.

- Note that system thickness is dependent upon the selection of components, which is determined (in part) by design parameters, including hydrological requirements. Consult with the vegetated roof system manufacturer for options and saturated system weight.
- Also note that vegetation coverage under the RoofStar Vegetated Roof Guarantee applies only to extensive systems planted with mats or trays - see Part 3 of Division A for more about coverage.
