Part 4 - Specifying a RoofStar Guarantee

Section 4.1. Quality Assurance

(The following sample wordings may be used by the specifier, for a project intended to qualify for a RoofStar Guarantee)

4.1.1. Specifications

4.1.1.1. Sample Wording

1. Specifying authorities requesting the RoofStar Guarantee may insert the following wording into their specifications:
   1. Workmanship and material requirements shall conform to the latest RoofStar Guarantee Standards as published in the RCABC Roofing Practices Manual , unless modified by the contract documents to exceed these minimums.
   2. Independent Observations (preferred wording)
      1. shall be performed by an independent Observation company accepted by the RCABC Guarantee Corp., the Owner, and the consultant.
      2. shall be performed published in Article 1.1.2.4. of the Standards, and as required by the RoofStar Guarantee Program.
      3. costs are to be paid directly by the owner.
   3. Independent Observation (optional wording)
      1. shall be performed by an Independent Observation company accepted by the RCABC Guarantee Corp., the Owner, and the consultant, to be assigned by the Guarantor.
      2. shall be performed published in Article 1.1.2.4. of the Standards, and as required by the RoofStar Guarantee Program.
      3. costs shall be included in this contract.
2. Specifying authorities requesting the RoofStar Vegetated Roof Guarantee may insert the following wording into their specification, which should form part of Division 07 (roofing and waterproofing division):
   1. Workmanship and system requirements shall conform to the latest version of the “RGC Standard for Vegetated Roofs” and the latest standard for the supporting roof assembly.
   2. The construction and commissioning of the vegetated roof assembly shall be managed by a person or team qualified by the RCABC Guarantee Corp. for project management of vegetated roof assemblies.
   3. Installation of the vegetated roof system shall be undertaken by installers qualified by the RCABC Guarantee Corp. and listed in the Roofing Practices Manual.
   4. The growing media shall be supplied by, or acceptable to, the RCABC Member vegetated roof system manufacturer.
   5. Development care and maintenance shall be included as part of the installer’s scope of work.
   6. Independent Observations (preferred wording)
      1. shall be performed by an independent Observation company accepted by the RCABC Guarantee Corp., the Owner, and the consultant, with observers trained in the observation of vegetated roof assemblies.
      2. performed as published in Article 1.1.2.4. of the “RGC Standard for Vegetated Roofs”, and as required by the RoofStar Guarantee Program.
      3. Observation costs shall be paid directly by the Owner.
   7. Independent Observations (optional wording)
      1. shall be performed by an independent Observation company accepted by the RCABC Guarantee Corp., the Owner, and the consultant, to be assigned by the Guarantor.
      2. shall be performed published in Article 1.1.2.4. of the “RGC Standard for Vegetated Roofs”, and as required by the RoofStar Guarantee Program.

Section 4.2. Guarantee

4.2.1. Specifications

4.2.1.1. Sample Wording

1. Provide the RoofStar Guarantee for five, ten or fifteen years, including the cost for the applicable Performance Reviews.
2. Provide the RoofStar Vegetated Roof Guarantee for two years, including the cost for the applicable Performance Review.
