Waterproofing Systems (Roofs): Liquid Membrane Flashing Systems
Waterproofing Systems (Roofs): Liquid Membrane Flashing Systems
Accepted Materials for a RoofStar Guarantee
The tables and products shown below provide basic material data and links to more information about the materials, including manufacturers' published Technical Data sheets, but this information is not intended for use as a comparison of material performance or quality. It is the sole responsibility of the Design Authority to assess the performance capability and material suitability for specific design requirements. The materials listed are those which have been accepted by the RoofStar Guarantee Program (RCABC Guarantee Corp., or RGC) for use in a roof or grade-level waterproofing system that will qualify for a RoofStar Guarantee. The acceptance of these materials by the RGC (RoofStar Guarantee Program) in no way reflects on the quality or performance of other materials not listed. The materials and guideline specifications are listed under the name of the manufacturer and/or supplier of the primary membrane material, with the exception of BUR membranes for which the reader will find RoofStar Guarantee Program guidelines on traditional built-up roofing systems (BUR) incorporating organic and glass felt primary membranes. |
- Note to Reader
- Liquid membrane flashing systems are manufactured from various bituminous and non-bituminous materials. These manufactured proprietary flashing systems are specifically designed for use to flash unusual roof penetration shapes or roof details that are difficult to flash with traditional membranes.
- Liquid membrane flashings are available as one or two part component systems that require reinforcement scrims for strength. To ensure quality installation, manufacturers’ proprietary application instructions must be strictly followed.
- 2-Part Component Systems
- For use with fabric reinforcement only (refer to product Technical Data Sheet for proprietary reinforcement materials). These systems may be used on or within 200 mm (8") of the water plane.

- Single-component Systems
- (NOTE: these flashing systems have limited application within the RoofStar Guarantee Program, and may be used on upstand angles, support junctions and joints that are typically more than 200 mm (8") above water plane. These materials may also be used as a coating on galvanized flashings and other strip-in flashings requiring a coating (see RoofStar Guarantee Standards for SBS-modified Bitumen Roof Assemblies, 12.4 Strip-in Flashings)
