- System Summary
- The LiveRoof Lite System for Protected Membrane Roof Assemblies ("inverted" roofs) is typically used on retrofit projects when the roof is engineered with only 15 to 17 pounds per sf for the green roof component. Its soil depth is a full 2-1/2 inches, enough to support many low growing succulents and a limited number of accent plants. It is generally not recommended for hot climates.
- The LiveRoof Lite System provides a modest level of storm water management and may provide modest energy savings, especially if attentively irrigated during the warm season. It also meets greenspace requirements in many instances, and provides limited biodiversity. Its plants will support pollinators such as butterflies and honeybees, and the plants that grow in the Lite System are diverse enough to support patterned designs.
- The plants used in the LiveRoof Lite System include a fairly broad range of low growing Sedums (mostly fine and medium-textured), as well as a few Alliums, for vertical and textural interest.

- Systems labeled "Inverted" are designed for a protected membrane roof assembly, also known as an inverted roof assembly.
- While Semi-intensive and Intensive vegetated roof systems are limited to only protected membrane roofs (See the Sentence 1.1.3.2.(5) in the "RGC Standard for Vegetated Roofs"), some vegetated roof system manufacturers offer their systems for conventionally insulated roofs. To request a written Variance to the published limitation, follow the requirements in Article 1.1.3.6..

- Note that system thickness is dependent upon the selection of components, which is determined (in part) by design parameters, including hydrological requirements. Consult with the vegetated roof system manufacturer for options and saturated system weight.
- Also note that vegetation coverage under the RoofStar Vegetated Roof Guarantee applies only to extensive systems planted with mats or trays - see Part 3 of Division A for more about coverage.
