- DESCRIPTION
The New Tech Machinery Panel Machine is an on-site continuous metal roofing panel roll forming machine. This machine produces Snap Lock - FF 100 with a seam height of 25 mm (1"). The panel profile varies from 305 mm (12") to 610 mm (24") wide.
On-site roll forming provides for the elimination of end laps with continuous panel forming capabilities in lengths up to nominal 46m (150').
- 1.1 GENERAL
The roofing assembly / material information published in the RCABC Roofing Practices Manual DOES NOT represent a complete set of the manufacturer's published data, nor does it represent a detailed specification. The preparation of a detailed specification is the responsibility of the design authority.
- 1.2 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
- .1 Metal panels employ a hidden fastening system for securement to a solid substrate. 1" Snap-Lock panels are produced with a nail strip to eliminate the use of clips and allows the panel seams to interlock without having to use a mechanical seaming device.
- .2 The range of application for this panel: on wood or metal sloped roofs; in commercial, institutional, industrial and residential applications; for re-roofing or new construction.
- .3 Panel Attachment:
- Fasteners - used to attach to plywood to be #10-12 x 25mm (1") long, pancake head, No. 2 Phillips or Robertson drive, A-point, coated steel screw. Fasteners to be spaced min. 610 mm (24") on centre fastened to plywood deck.
- .4 Plywood decking is to be a nominal 13 mm (1/2") thick or thicker.
- 1.3 SITE CONDITIONS
- .1 Minimum roof slope is 1:4 (3" in 12"). Severe conditions (heavy snow or ice) minimum slope is 1:2.5 (8" in 12").
- 1.4 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
- .1 Wind Uplift Standards:
- National Research Council (NRC-CNRC) Report No.B1040 Wind Uplift Resistance of Metal Roofing. The NRC-CNRC Report No. B1040 test results confirm that an acceptable level of wind uplift resistance can be achieved with RoofStar-Accepted Metal Panel Systems on typical roof designs over solid decking for most British Columbia geographical locations. Refer to Appendix II for calculations for typical roof wind uplift pressure requirements for buildings located in the Province of British Columbia.
- A simplified design procedure developed by NRC-CNRC for selecting wind pressure calculations for metal roof assemblies by region (location) and building height in the Province of British Columbia is provided in TAB 8.1.5 to assist designers.
- RoofStar-accepted metal panel systems shall be formed of steel conforming to one of the following material specifications, as applicable:
- ASTM Standard Specification A653 / A653M, Sheet Steel, Zinc-Coated (Galvanized) or Zinc-Iron Alloy Coated (Galvannealed) by the hot dip process, minimum Grade 33, with a design thickness of 24 gauge. (0.024") or greater and a minimum zinc coating designation Z275 (G-90).
- ASTM Standard Specification A792 / A792M, Steel Sheet, 55% Aluminum-Zinc Alloy-Coated by the Hot-Dip Process, minimum Grade 33, with a design thickness of 24 gauge (0.024") or greater and minimum coating designation AZ150.
