Notice to Reader | |
Images used in a Construction Detail are representative and not prescriptive. Nor are they necessarily drawn to scale. Rather, they are provided to visually convey the requirements of the Standard they represent. Unless otherwise required by the Standard, dimensions, the selection of materials and their application remains the responsibility of the Design Authority. The full text of the referenced requirements in the Standard may be read by using the blue hyperlinks |
SBS Details
1 WORK INCLUDED
- (1) Underlayment
- The type of underlay required is determined by roof slope.
- (2) Ridge girts
- May be required by engineer for panel drag load fasteners. Secured using compatible non-corrosive fasteners.
- (3) Insulation
- Offset and stagger layers 300 mm (12").
- (4) Vapour-permeable separation membrane
- Installed over insulation and required on all insulated Architectural Sheet Metal Roof Systems. The material must be located between the insulation and metal panels/ventilation material (see 8.1.2 Design).
- (5) Ventilation layer
- A ventilation space is required on slopes less than 1:3; entangled mesh (shown) may be used as void fill. The ventilation space facilitates drying as condensation forms on the underside of the metal panels.
- (6) Architectural metal roof panel
- Top end of panels must be "bread-panned". Clips are not illustrated.
- (7) Drag-load fasteners
- Compatible non-corrosive fasteners.
- (8) Foam closures
- may be used to close ridge when cap flashing is mechanically attached to the panels ribs (see 10.3.5.3 (1)(2)).
- (9) Ridge cap flashing
- (10) Fasteners
- See 10.3.5.3 (1)(2).
2 RELATED WORK BY OTHERS
- (A) Acceptable Deck
NOTE: See the Standard for additional requirements.
