Part 10 - Construction Detail - Metal Edge Termination - TPO.png

1 WORK INCLUDED

(1) Suitable field substrate
May be the roof deck or deck overlay (if an uninsulated system), or insulation and an overlay (if conventionally insulated).
(2) Primer or adhesive
For self-adhered or adhered membranes, as required by the manufacturer.
(3) Field Membrane
Selected to conform to the requirements in Membrane Composition, Thickness, and Selection Table 9.2.1.1. and conforming to the options or requirements in a Tested Assembly, an Assembly with Proven Past Performance, or a custom-engineered assembly. Carried continuously over the outside edge and down the vertical face at least 50.8 mm (2”), or 50.8 mm past any cold joint.
(4) Sealant
Applied to membrane, beneath metal edge flashing.
(5) Metal edge (flush) flashing
Fasteners spaced no more than 203.2 mm (8”) on the top face in two offsetting rows.
A hemmed drip edge (shown) is required (Refer to Article 13.2.2.1. for fabrication requirements).
(6) TPO vertical membrane flashing strip
Heat-welded TPO strip, or pressure-sensitive strip, to the metal edge flashing at butt joints, overlapping joint by at least 101.6 mm (4”) on either side. Membrane strip must be applied over joints before top membrane flashing strip (7) is applied.
(7) TPO horizontal membrane flashing strip
Heat-welded to the top face of the edge metal flashing and welded to the field membrane; the membrane must overlap both the metal and the field membrane by no less than 101.6 mm (4”).
(7) Edge sealant
Must be applied to cut edges, as required by the manufacturer.

2 RELATED WORK BY OTHERS

(A) Supporting (Structural) Roof Deck
Generic and representative only.
(B) Roof edge substrate
Necessary for securing screw fasteners. Generic and representative only.
(C) Wall assembly
Generic and representative only.

NOTE: See the Standard for additional requirements.
