Product Group: STANDING SEAM METAL ROOF SYSTEM - AR5150 SNAP LOCK PANEL
- DESCRIPTION
The AR5150 Snap Lock panel is formed with an on-site / in-shop continuous metal roofing panel roll forming machine (Schlebach Quadro+). This machine produces a Snap-lock panel with a seam height of 38 mm (1-1/2") and profiles can vary from 200 mm (8") wide up to 500 mm (20") wide. This machine also produces a Nail-strip panel and a mechanically seamed panel.
On-site roll forming provides for the elimination of end laps with continuous panel forming capabilities in lengths up to nominal 46 m (150').
- 1.1 GENERAL
- The roofing assembly / material information published in the RCABC Roofing Practices Manual DOES NOT represent a complete set of the manufacturer's published data, nor does it represent a detailed specification. The preparation of a detailed specification is the responsibility of the design authority.
- 1.2 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
- .1 The AR5150 SL panel is a snap-lock concealed fastener roofing panel. The panel is attached with a hidden roof deck panel clip fastened to the acceptable substrate. The overlying panel (female rib) locks together with the underlying panel’s intergraded clip (male) and roof deck panel clips. The maximum spacing of the clips is 600 mm (24") on centre.
- .2 Range of application: on wood or metal sloped roofs; in commercial, institutional, industrial and residential construction; for re-roofing or new construction.
- .3 Panel Attachment:
- Fasteners (Screws) - Fasteners used to attach panels to plywood to be No. 10-12 by 25 mm (1") long pancake head wood screws. Minimum two fasteners per clip to be used.
- Roof Deck Fasteners (Panel Clips) - One piece assembly 57.15 mm (2-1/4") wide, 38 mm (1-1/2") high, minimum thickness 0.036" (No. 20 MSG). Clips spaced maximum 600 mm (24") on centre, fastened to the roof deck.
- 1.3 SITE CONDITIONS
- .1 Minimum roof slope is 1:4 (3" in 12"). Severe conditions (heavy snow or ice) minimum slope is 1:1.5 (8" in 12").
- 1.4 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
- .1 Wind Uplift Standards:
- National Research Council (NRC-CNRC) Report No.B1040 Wind Uplift Resistance of Metal Roofing. The NRC-CNRC Report No. B1040 test results confirm that an acceptable level of wind uplift resistance can be achieved with RGC Accepted Metal Panel Systems on typical roof designs over solid decking for most British Columbia geographical locations. Refer to Appendix II for calculations for typical roof wind uplift pressure requirements for buildings located in the Province of British Columbia.
- A simplified design procedure developed by NRC-CNRC for selecting wind pressure calculations for metal roof assemblies by region (location) and building height in the Province of British Columbia is provided in TAB 8.1.5 to assist designers.
- RGC accepted metal panel systems shall be formed of steel conforming to one of the following material specifications, as applicable:
- ASTM Standard Specification A653 / A653M, Sheet Steel, Zinc-Coated (Galvanized) or Zinc-Iron Alloy Coated (Galvannealed) by the hot dip process, minimum Grade 33, with a design thickness of 24 gauge. (0.024") or greater and a minimum zinc coating designation Z275 (G-90).
- ASTM Standard Specification A792 / A792M, Steel Sheet, 55% Aluminum-Zinc Alloy-Coated by the Hot-Dip Process, minimum Grade 33, with a design thickness of 24 gauge (0.024") or greater and minimum coating designation AZ150.
