Division C - Accepted Materials
Snap-Loc
by Lam Metal Contracting Ltd.
The metal panel listed and described below is accepted for use in the RoofStar Guarantee Program. |
The roofing assembly / material information published below and in the RCABC Roofing Practices Manual DOES NOT represent a complete set of the manufacturer's published data, nor does it represent a detailed specification. The preparation of a detailed specification is the responsibility of the design authority. For more information about this product or system, consult the manufacturer. |
OVERVIEW
The 1" Snap-Loc is a metal roof panel formed from 24 gauge. The panel can be applied on to solid sheeting with or without insulation. Width from 300 mm (12") to 400 mm (16") wide with a 22 mm (1") height at the male rib. Panels are continuous with no end laps.
SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
- General: Metal panels employ a hidden fastening system for securement to a solid substrate. 1" Snap-Loc design allows the panel seams to interlock without having to use a mechanical seaming device.
- Range of application: on wood or metal sloped roofs; in commercial, institutional, industrial and residential construction; for re-roofing or new construction.
- Fasteners (Screws): Fasteners (screws) used to attach panels to plywood deck to be No. 8 by 22 mm (1") panhead. Fasteners to be placed a maximum of 600 mm (24") on center.
- Fabrication: Unless otherwise shown on drawings or specified herein, fabricate panels in continuous one piece lengths and fabricate flashings and accessories in longest practical lengths.
- Deck Requirements: in keeping with the Standard for Architectural Sheet Metal (ASM) Systems.
DELIVERY, STORAGE & HANDLING
- Protect against damage and discoloration.
- Handle panels with non-marring slings.
- Do not bend panels.
- Store panels above ground, with one end elevated for drainage.
- Protect panels against standing water and condensation between adjacent surfaces.
- If panels become wet, immediately separate sheets, wipe dry with clean cloth, allow to air dry.
FIELD MEASUREMENTS
- Verify prior to fabrication.
- If field measurements differ from drawing dimensions, notify Architect / Professional Engineer prior to fabrication.
PROTECTION
Treat, or isolate with protective material, any contacting surfaces of dissimilar materials to prevent electrolytic corrosion.

SITE CONDITIONS
- Minimum roof slope is 1:4 (3" in 12"). Severe conditions (heavy snow or ice) minimum slope is 1:1.5 (8" in 12").
- Verify that structural deck to receive panels is complete, in true plane, secure and otherwise properly prepared.
- Prior to starting work, notify General Contractor about defects requiring correction.
- Do not start work until conditions are satisfactory.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
- Wind Uplift Resistance: Panel securement shall conform to the requirements in Part 3 of the Standard for Architectural Sheet Metal (ASM) Systems.
- Materials:RoofStar (RGC) accepted metal panel systems shall be formed of steel conforming to the requirements published in Section 9.2. of the Standard.
