Product Group: STANDING SEAM METAL ROOF SYSTEM – SNAP LOCK II 675 PANEL
- DESCRIPTION
The Snap Lock II 675 Panel is an on-site continuous panel metal roofing machine. Panel profiles vary from 300 mm (12") to 500 mm (20") wide with a seam height of 44 mm (1-3/4").
On-site roll forming provides for the elimination of end laps with continuous panel forming capabilities in lengths up to nominal 46 m (150’).
- 1.1 GENERAL
- The roofing assembly / material information published in the RCABC Roofing Practices Manual DOES NOT represent a complete set of the manufacturer's published data, nor does it represent a detailed specification. The preparation of a detailed specification is the responsibility of the design authority.
- 1.2 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
- .1 The SS675 44 mm (1-3/4") Snap-Lock profile is a snap lock concealed fastener roofing panel. The panel can be formed in any width between 300 mm (12") and 450 mm (18"). Stiffening ribs, striations and / or clip relief can be added depending in the application. The male leg locks along the entire length of the panel and does not rely upon clips to provide additional locking. The SS675 utilizes 153 mm (6-1/8") of metal in forming the panel legs providing greater structural integrity, which can carry greater loads.
- .2 Range of application: on wood or metal sloped roofs; in commercial, institutional, industrial and residential construction; for re-roofing or new construction.
- .3 Panel Attachment:
- Fasteners (Screws)
- Fasteners used to attach panel clips to steel to be No. 10-16 by 25 mm (1") long cadmium plated pancake head No. 2 Phillips drive, No. 3 self-drilling point steel screws. Two screws per clip inserted through 6.25 mm (1/4") diameter guide holes.
- Roof Deck Fasteners (Panel Clips)
- One piece assembly, No. 22 MSG min thick, 87.5 mm (3-1/2") wide, 47.6 mm (1-7/8 in.) high. One panel clip spaced at 600 mm (24") on centre for Class 90.
- 1.3 SITE CONDITIONS
- .1 Minimum roof slope is 1:6 (2" in 12"). Severe conditions (heavy snow or ice) minimum slope is 1:1.5 (8" in 12").
- 1.4 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
- .1 Wind Uplift Standards:
- National Research Council (NRC-CNRC) Report No.B1040 Wind Uplift Resistance of Metal Roofing. The NRC-CNRC Report No. B1040 test results confirm that an acceptable level of wind uplift resistance can be achieved with RGC Accepted Metal Panel Systems on typical roof designs over solid decking for most British Columbia geographical locations. Refer to Appendix II for calculations for typical roof wind uplift pressure requirements for buildings located in the Province of British Columbia.
- A simplified design procedure developed by NRC-CNRC for selecting wind pressure calculations for metal roof assemblies by region (location) and building height in the Province of British Columbia is provided in TAB 8.1.5 to assist designers.
- RGC accepted metal panel systems shall be formed of steel conforming to one of the following material specifications, as applicable:
- ASTM Standard Specification A653 / A653M, Sheet Steel, Zinc-Coated (Galvanized) or Zinc-Iron Alloy Coated (Galvannealed) by the hot dip process, minimum Grade 33, with a design thickness of 24 gauge. (0.024") or greater and a minimum zinc coating designation Z275 (G-90).
- ASTM Standard Specification A792 / A792M, Steel Sheet, 55% Aluminum-Zinc Alloy-Coated by the Hot-Dip Process, minimum Grade 33, with a design thickness of 24 gauge (0.024") or greater and minimum coating designation AZ150.
