Product Group: STANDING SEAM METAL ROOF SYSTEM – SS 150 PANEL and SS 100 PANEL MECHANICAL LOCK
- DESCRIPTION
The New Tech Machinery Panel Machine is an on-site continuous metal roofing panel roll forming machine. This machine produces Seam Lock - SS 150 with a seam height of 38 mm (1-1/2") and Seam Lock - SS 100 with a seam height of 22 mm (1"). Both panel profiles vary from 300 mm (12") to 500 mm (20") wide.
On-site roll forming provides for the elimination of end laps with continuous panel forming capabilities in lengths up to nominal 46m (150').
- 1.1 GENERAL
The roofing assembly / material information published in the RCABC Roofing Practices Manual DOES NOT represent a complete set of the manufacturer's published data, nor does it represent a detailed specification. The preparation of a detailed specification is the responsibility of the design authority.
- 1.2 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
- .1 Standing seam panels use a hidden fastening clip system for mechanical fastening to a solid substrate. The maximum spacing of the clips is 600 mm (24") on centre. The panels are locked together, with the clips as part of the seam, by use of a mechanical seamer.
- .2 The range of application for this panel: on sloped wood or metal roof decks; in residential, commercial, and industrial applications; for new or re-roof.
- .3 Panel Attachment:
- Panel Clips - one piece clip 64 mm (2") wide by 38 mm (1.5") high with a 16 mm (3/4") base. The minimum thickness is 22 gauge metal; fastened to a plywood deck 600 mm (24") on centre. Manufactured by Architectural Metal Specialities Inc.
- Fasteners - used to attach clips to plywood to be #8 x 1" long, pancake head, A-point, coated steel screw. Minimum two screws per clip. For steel decking or Z-girts the same size of screw with a pancake head, having a self-drill and tap point, and again two screws per clip.
- .4 Plywood decking is to be a nominal 13 mm (1/2") thick or thicker.
- 1.3 SITE CONDITIONS
- .1 Minimum roof slope is 1:6 (2" in 12"). Severe conditions (heavy snow or ice) minimum slope is 1:2.5 (8" in 12").
- 1.4 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
- Wind Uplift Standards: Engineered designs to resist wind uplift may refer to the British Columbia Building Code, Div. B, Appendix C, Table C-2 which lists various types of loads, including wind loads, for specific reference locations throughout the province. See also Guides and Notes (Wind Resistance) for a simplified calculation procedure. Regardless of the resources indicated here, the Design Authority is responsible to perform accurate wind load calculations and specify securement requirements.
- Materials:RoofStar (RGC) accepted metal panel systems shall be formed of steel conforming to the standards published in the Architectural Sheet Metal (ASM) Roof Standards.
