Product Group: STANDING SEAM METAL ROOF SYSTEM ZIMMERMAN SS 1500 STANDING SEAM PANEL

DESCRIPTION
The Zimmerman SS 1500 is an on-site continuous panel metal roofing machine. Panel profiles vary from 300 mm (12") to 500 mm (20") wide with a standing seam height of 38 mm (1½").
This on–site manufacturing eliminates the need for end laps, with continuous panel forming capabilities in lengths up to 15 – 24 m (50’).

1.1 GENERAL

The roofing assembly / material information published in the RCABC Roofing Practices Manual DOES NOT represent a complete set of the manufacturer's published data, nor does it represent a detailed specification. The preparation of a detailed specification is the responsibility of the design authority.

1.2 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

.1 Standing seam panels employ a hidden fastening system for securement to a solid substrate. The maximum spacing of the clips is 600 mm (24") on centre. The panels are locked together, with the clips as part of the seam, by use of a mechanical seamer.
.2 Range of application for this panel: on wood or metal-sloped roofs; in commercial, institutional, industrial and residential construction; for reroofing or new construction.
.3 Panel Attachment:
Panel clips
One piece clip 64 mm (2½") wide by 38mm (1½") high with a 16 mm (5/8") base. The minimum thickness is 22 gauge metal; fastened to a plywood deck 600 mm (24") on centre. Custom-Built 2SS RC1.5" standing seam roof clip.
Fasteners
Used to attach clips to plywood to be #8 x 1" long pancake head, A-point, coated steel screw. Minimum 2 screws per clip. For steel decking or Z-girts, #8 x 1" long pancake head, having a self-drill and tap point, minimum 2 screws per clip.
.4 Plywood decking is to be nominal 13mm (½") thick or thicker.

1.3 SITE CONDITIONS

.1 Minimum roof slope is 1:6 (2" in 12"). Severe conditions (heavy snow or ice) minimum slope is 1:1.5 (8" in 12").
1.4 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
  1. Wind Uplift Standards: Engineered designs to resist wind uplift may refer to the British Columbia Building Code, Div. B, Appendix C, Table C-2 which lists various types of loads, including wind loads, for specific reference locations throughout the province. See also Guides and Notes (Wind Resistance) for a simplified calculation procedure. Regardless of the resources indicated here, the Design Authority is responsible to perform accurate wind load calculations and specify securement requirements.
  2. Materials:RoofStar (RGC) accepted metal panel systems shall be formed of steel conforming to the standards published in the Architectural Sheet Metal (ASM) Roof Standards.
