The roofing assembly / material information published below and in the RCABC Roofing Practices Manual DOES NOT represent a complete set of the manufacturer's published data, nor does it represent a detailed specification. The preparation of a detailed specification is the responsibility of the design authority. For more information about this product or system, consult the manufacturer.

OVERVIEW

The Zimmerman SS 1500 is an on-site continuous panel metal roofing machine. Panel profiles vary from 300 mm (12") to 500 mm (20") wide with a standing seam height of 38 mm (1½").

This on–site manufacturing eliminates the need for end laps, with continuous panel forming capabilities in lengths up to 15 – 24 m (50’).

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

  1. General: Standing seam panels employ a hidden fastening system for securement to a solid substrate. The maximum spacing of the clips is 600 mm (24") on centre. The panels are locked together, with the clips as part of the seam, by use of a mechanical seamer.
  2. Range of application: on wood or metal sloped roofs; in commercial, institutional, industrial and residential construction; for re-roofing or new construction. Plywood decking is to be nominal 13mm (½") thick or thicker.
  3. Fasteners (Screws): To attach clips to plywood, use #8 x 1" long pancake head, A-point, coated steel screw. Minimum 2 screws per clip. For steel decking or Z-girts, use #8 x 1" long pancake head, having a self-drill and tap point, minimum 2 screws per clip.
  4. Panel Clips: One-piece clip 64 mm (2½") wide by 38mm (1½") high with a 16 mm (5/8") base. The minimum thickness is 22 gauge metal; fastened to a plywood deck 600 mm (24") O.C. Custom-Built 2SS RC1.5" standing seam roof clip.
  5. Deck Requirements: in keeping with the Standard for Architectural Sheet Metal (ASM) Systems.

SITE CONDITIONS

Minimum roof slope is 1:4 (3" in 12"). Severe conditions (heavy snow or ice) minimum slope is 1:1.5 (8" in 12").

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

  1. Wind Uplift Resistance: Panel securement shall conform to the requirements in Part 3 of the Standard for Architectural Sheet Metal (ASM) Systems.
  2. Materials:RoofStar (RGC) accepted metal panel systems shall be formed of steel conforming to the requirements published in Section 9.2. of the Standard.
