Product Group: STANDING SEAM METAL ROOF SYSTEM – ZIMMERMAN SS1500 STANDING SEAM PANEL

DESCRIPTION
The Zimmerman SS1500 is an on-site continuous panel metal roofing machine. Panel profiles vary from 300 mm (12") to 500 mm (20") wide with a standing seam height of 38 mm (1 1/2").
This on-site manufacturing eliminates the need for end laps, with continuous panel forming capabilities in lengths up to 46 m (150'). Panel clips for longer length panels to be two piece assemblies, for thermal expansion and contraction design allowances, using 20 gauge metal conforming to 150-ST-22G and 500-SB-22-g base by AMSI or Approved equivalent.
1.1 GENERAL
The roofing assembly / material information published in the RCABC Roofing Practices Manual DOES NOT represent a complete set of the manufacturer's published data, nor does it represent a detailed specification. The preparation of a detailed specification is the responsibility of the design authority.
1.2 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
.1 Standing seam panels use a hidden fastening clip system for mechanical fastening to a solid substrate. The maximum spacing of the clips is 600 mm (24") on centre. The panels are locked together, with the clips as part of the seam, by use of a mechanical seamer.
.2 The range of application for this panel: on sloped wood or metal roof decks; in residential, commercial, and industrial applications; for new or reroof.
.3 Panel Attachment:
Panel Clips – one piece clip 64 mm (2 ½") wide by 38 mm (1 ½") high with a 16 mm (5/8") base. The minimum thickness is 22 gauge metal; fastened to a plywood deck 600 mm (24") on centre. Custom-Bilt 2SS RC1.5" standing seam roof clip.
Fasteners - used to attach clips to plywood to be #8 x 1" long, pancake head, A-point, coated steel screw. Minimum two screws per clip. For steel decking or Z-girts the same size of screw with a pancake head, having a self-drill and tap point, and again two screws per clip.
.4 Plywood decking is to be a nominal 13 mm (1/2") thick or thicker.
1.3 SITE CONDITIONS
.1 Minimum roof slope is 1:6 (2" in 12"). Severe conditions (heavy snow or ice) minimum slope is 1:1.5 (8" in 12").
1.4 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
  1. Wind Uplift Standards: Engineered designs to resist wind uplift may refer to the British Columbia Building Code, Div. B, Appendix C, Table C-2 which lists various types of loads, including wind loads, for specific reference locations throughout the province. See also Guides and Notes (Wind Resistance) for a simplified calculation procedure. Regardless of the resources indicated here, the Design Authority is responsible to perform accurate wind load calculations and specify securement requirements.
  2. Materials:RoofStar (RGC) accepted metal panel systems shall be formed of steel conforming to the standards published in the Architectural Sheet Metal (ASM) Roof Standards.
